My name is Jenny and I am a young artist who has been searching for the life of art.
I come from Taiwan, and I would love to share some of my art works here, with all the young artists. ^_^!!
About my art works- The first work is one of my favorite - Genesis (Oil on canvas, 30" x 40"). I found this subject from a photo in a magazine in 1997.
I spent 3 weeks working on it, and tried to make it my own way.
I changed the color tone of the original photo from the yellow to brown. I also changed the grandmother's clothes color to dark green to represent her age.
The reason why I made those changes above is because in Taiwan, the older people wear dark clothing and I wanted to make the look of "age" on the grandmother's face stronger.
The granddaughter's clothes are light because I want to make the granddaughter look younger and brighter.
The color of her youthful complexion in contrast of her grandmother's dark and old arms shows the pride on the grandmother's face and her hopeful expectations of the youngster. So it is called - Genesis.
Twilight
The second one is the scene which I had dreamt to draw when I was young.
Some people believe that the "human willpower is weak at the moment of sunset, because the sense of romance in your heart . . "
One of the reasons why I started painting the scene of sunset was because some people believe that it is always hard to paint the color of sunset.
From the days of painting, I had learned a lot and taught myself by the experience of directing the color.
And I know I had processed the art experience. It is very important in each of my art work.
Twilight contains the colors from bright to dark, from white to black. Artists who paint the twilight the actual color they see from their naked eyes, the outcome somehow decreased compare to the real scene. On the other hand, if you put more colors, but reasonable, then the picture would make you have closer feeling as the actual scene. Twilight was the challenge. And I will take the challenge again.
The best way to represent where I come from should be this one - Chinese Scene
In Chinese calligraphy drawing, we call it "writing" instead of "drawing". "Writing a picture" is how we call it when doing the Chinese calligrapy drawing.
The method of the Chinese Calligraphy Drawing is different from the Western way of drawing. We use the writing method on the drawing. Chinese Calligraphy Drawing contains the Asian philosophy and poetry.
There are thoughts, poetries, and the life philosophy in Chinese calligraphy. In my Chinese Scene, I tend to leave white. That's because in Chinese philosophy, there is more in white than filling up with theing. The far side of the picture is white, and for the drawing itself, it means cloud or smoge, but in deeper Chinese philosophical perspective, it pretty much tells the viewers -
